It has long, elegant, pendulous branches with triangular, serrated, mid green leaves that turn warm yellow in autumn, and lovely white bark, especially in winter. It was found as a chance seedling and introduced in 1874, by Maurice Young nursery, from Surrey, England. Betula pendula Youngii is easily grown in any type of soil, but prefers moist, well
